Dev & Status

Yo! Dev here, this is where I'll be posting updates and status entries regarding what I'm working on, what I'm aware of etc. Just wanted a place where I can communicate with you guys.

I know it can be awkward when you find something and aren't sure if its known or being worked on. If you find anything hit us up at admin.octosmith@gmail.com ASAP and include as much detail as you can! Appreciate it!

October 24, 2026

  • Keychains: new View in 3D tab. Spin your keychain around to see it from every side, with a ruler or a credit card next to it for size
  • Keychains: smoother cut lines, and the white and gloss layers no longer fill in the holes in your art
  • Prints: a new swap button flips your print size between portrait and landscape in one click
  • Sticker Stacking: you can now show the cut lines on your preview to check them. They never print
  • Sticker Stacking: Add registration marks is now a simple Extra corner keep-away checkbox. Tick it and a box appears for the size
  • The tools now start in inches or millimeters based on your country. You can still switch any time
  • New Feedback page: tell us what you think or report a bug. Your first message after a paid export earns a free token
  • A fresh home page: short clips of our most popular tools, a simpler How it works, and where to follow us on Instagram and X. Pricing now has its own page
  • Dashboard: click anywhere on a tool's card to open it
  • Fixed: finished downloads now say "Export complete" instead of "Preview complete", and choosing the same file again always works
  • Walkthroughs updated to match, plus small fixes and polish across the tools

October 20, 2026

  • Sticker Sheets: a new White border option adds a clean white edge around each sticker, no drawing needed. The cut line can now also sit inside the edge of your art
  • Sticker Stacking: designs now start at their real size (300 DPI) instead of all at the same size, and the new Resize all option sets every design to one size in a single step
  • Sticker Stacking: a much shorter design list with settings you can apply to every design at once, a new Add registration marks option for cutting machines that print marks in the corners, and soft or see-through parts of your art now print the way you drew them
  • Out of tokens? The pop-up can now make a free watermarked preview of the same file, so you can check it before buying
  • Walkthroughs updated to match, plus small fixes and polish across the tools

October 15, 2026

  • New walkthroughs for Sticker Sheets and the PDF Compiler, so every tool now has one in the Tutorial Center. The other three were refreshed to match the tools as they are today
  • A cleaner look across the whole site: tidier corners on buttons, cards and input fields, and redesigned pricing cards with coins that show the pack size and a simpler Cost Per Export table
  • The FAQ on the home page is now split into three tabs (How to use, Capabilities, About), so it's much shorter to scroll through
  • PDF Compiler: on laptop-size screens, the Pages and Remove controls no longer squeeze your file details
  • Prints: the low-resolution warning now gives the right advice: try a larger crop, a smaller print size, or a higher-resolution image

October 14, 2026

  • Out of tokens? You can now buy them right inside the tool. When an export needs more tokens than you have, the card shows the packs and plans and takes your payment on the spot, by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link. Your file and settings stay exactly where they are
  • Once the tokens land, one press of Download now finishes the export you started. No more trip to the pricing page and back, and no re-uploading
  • The pricing page still works as before for anyone who prefers it

October 13, 2026

  • PDF Compiler: see how big your PDF will be before you export it, how much smaller it is than your art, and whether it's small enough to attach to an email. If it's too big, it tells you how small Compact quality would make it
  • PDF Compiler: each artwork can now repeat on up to 10 pages (was 5)
  • Sticker Stacking and Sticker Sheets: Try it with Octo now shows the finished sheet right away. With your own art, the preview tells you which button to press next
  • Walkthroughs now match the tools step for step, and each one shows the in | mm switch and Try it with Octo
  • Sharing an Octosmith link on Discord or in a text now shows a proper preview image. And we're on X now: @octosmith_io

October 12, 2026

  • New: Try it with Octo. Every tool can now load Octo's art and give you a free, full-quality file, so you can see exactly what you'd get before using your own
  • Every tool now works in millimeters too. Flip the in | mm switch at the top of any tool
  • Fixed a lot of bugs with the millimeter view: sizes, limits and warnings now show the right numbers in mm
  • Sticker Stacking: a PNG download with only one sheet is now just the PNG. Two or more sheets still come in a ZIP
  • Lots of other bug fixes and small polish across the tools

October 8, 2026

  • Token plans are here. Next to the one-time packs, the pricing page now has a Reoccurring tab with three plans: $5 a month for 7 tokens, $25 every 6 months for 40, or $50 a year for 100. The tokens land in your account the moment each payment goes through, and like every token here they never expire, even if you cancel
  • Cancel anytime, no fees, and you keep your tokens. Changed your mind? Resume with one click. Want a different plan? Switch from the pricing page and the old plan ends the moment the new one is paid
  • New Billing page in your profile menu: your tokens, your plan, your receipts and invoices, and every purchase in one place
  • New demo video on the home page under See how it works: a keychain, a sticker sheet and a print in 47 seconds. It only loads once you scroll to it, so it doesn't slow the page down
  • Keychains: dragging a hole no longer leaves an extra hole behind when you let go, and a hole dropped off the piece goes back to where it was
  • The phone menu bar is now red with white text, so it's easier to spot
  • Terms, Privacy Policy and Refund Policy updated for plans, with a plain note on how we use analytics and session recordings to improve the tools
  • New FAQ entries on the home page: do I need a subscription (no), can I cancel a plan (yes, anytime), can I switch plans (yes)

October 2, 2026

  • Prints and Keychains: photos from a phone or camera now come out the right way up. Before, a portrait phone photo could come out of Prints sideways and stretched
  • Keychains: the preview now stays on screen while you scroll through the settings, so you can watch your size, outline and hole changes as you make them
  • Sticker Sheets: if your sticker file and your background aren't the same shape, you now find out the moment you pick them, instead of after waiting for a preview
  • New look for the Tutorial Center: pick a tool from the tabs along the top to open its walkthrough. Every tool also has a Demo button, with short demo videos coming soon
  • Walkthroughs now tell you up front to click the numbered tags, instead of hiding that behind a little "i"
  • Keychains walkthrough: rewritten lessons, plus a new explainer on UV spot gloss
  • New look for the Dashboard: click anywhere on a tool's card to open it, and there's a help card if you're not sure where to start
  • Contact moved from the top bar to the bottom of the home page, next to our new Instagram and Facebook links

September 30, 2026

  • New Keychains walkthrough in the Tutorial Center. Click any numbered tag to see what that part of the tool does, from outlines and holes to the layers in your PSD
  • New Sticker Stacking walkthrough in the Tutorial Center
  • Tutorials: explanations now pop up right next to the part you click
  • Keychains: full-bleed keychains (a negative outline) now download properly. Before, the free preview and the export stopped with an error, and no tokens were charged when that happened
  • Keychains: rectangular keychains with an outline and no hole now get their cut line on the outer edge, so the clear border around your art stays on
  • Free watermarked previews from every tool now start with PREVIEW_ in the file name, so they're easy to tell apart from your real exports in your Downloads folder
  • Improved tool logging for faster debugging

September 28, 2026

  • Fixed a rare hiccup where an export could stop with "the page was closed" even though you were still on the page. No token was charged when it happened, and it shouldn't happen anymore
  • Refactored the token packs to show price per token instead of total as the main header. This should hopefully show people up front how cheap an export actually is.
  • New note under the packs: most artists make back the cost of an export with a single sale. It links to a list of what every tool costs

September 26, 2026

  • Adjusted the Instagram pop-up to provide an email field, so the site now offers to email you a link. To open Instagram in-app browser causes too many problems :(

September 25, 2026

  • Prints: setting the bleed to 0 now works properly, in the preview and in the exported file
  • Everyone who did a paid print export in our first week got those tokens back, because of the cut line issue we fixed last time
  • New accounts now get a confirmation email with quick links to every tool
  • Deleting your account also removes you from our email list automatically, no need to ask
  • We may send an occasional email about what's new. Every one of those has an unsubscribe link, and account emails stay separate
  • Privacy policy updated to say exactly that

September 24, 2026

  • Busy hours are handled differently now. When lots of people export at once, you get a spot in line instead of an error. You'll see your place move up, and your file starts on its own when it's your turn. Just keep the tab open
  • If an export ever fails, the message now includes a short reference code. Send it to us with your report and we can see exactly what happened on our end
  • Prints: the Bleed Area box is now exactly where your file gets cut. What you see inside the box is what you get, edge to edge
  • Prints: PDF exports are a lot faster, and transparent parts of your art now come out white instead of black
  • Prints: sizes come out to the exact pixel at your chosen DPI
  • Upgraded to servers that add capacity on their own when things get busy, in time for con season

September 20, 2026

  • Phones now get a menu on every page, so you can reach Pricing, the Tutorial, and your Dashboard from anywhere
  • Sticker Stacking downloads now always match your preview exactly, and they finish faster
  • If a file is too large for a tool, you now find out right away with a clear message, not after a long wait
  • Bigger, easier-to-tap links on phones
  • General stability and reliability work behind the scenes

September 18, 2026

  • Fixed a rare freeze that could happen when setting a very thick keychain outline
  • Keychain outlines now max out at 1 inch
  • Server memory tune-up so things stay quick when lots of people are exporting at once
  • Shorter, simpler "How it works" section on the home page
  • Octo moved in at the top of this page, and the Dev & Status button went sky blue

September 17, 2026

  • Fixed issue with keychain export/preview crashing
  • Faster previews on large files
  • Increased accepted upload sizes
  • Various small visual fixes
  • Enhanced Sentry error monitoring
  • Happy birthday dev & status page!
